Mysterious Light Areas in Silk

Q: Why are there suddenly lighter areas of discoloration in my silk tie or blouse?

A: Often when we spill, we are quick to apply soda water in an attempt to remove the stain. If you look at the rag you use after applying soda water, you are likely to see dye from the silk. While you had good intentions, you inadvertently removed some of the dye from the garment as well. When you spill on silk, let it be and bring the garment to Dependable quickly, pointing out the problem area. This increases the chances of recovery.
