Shrinkage of Household Item

Q: Why did my household item shrink after dry cleaning?

A: Often bedding, slip covers and other household items can shrink after cleaning. Often the piping, seams or stitches become distorted or puckered. This is typically a result of the item not being properly preshrunk and/or stabilized during manufacturing. If your item shrunk more than 2 – 4 percent, then it is something to be taken up with the manufacturer. Sometimes, steaming the fabric can help restore size and shape, but this cannot be guaranteed.
