Streaks and Color Loss

Q: Why do some of my garments have surface streaks or color loss splotches that become more prominent after cleaning?

A: Color loss can occur from abrasion the fabric received during normal wear. In some cases, the areas appear chalky or fuzzy. Many fabric dyes can discolor if subjected to repeated brushing, rubbing, and friction on the surface. Many fabrics, particularly cotton, linen, and ramie, are more susceptible to this type of color loss. Seat belts are a common culprit. This type of color loss is due to normal wear and cannot be adequately restored by any practical means. However, make certain to point it out to your customer service rep at Dependable and we will put red garment tape on the item, indicating that we should pay special attention.
