Tie Problems
Q: Why do my ties look so bad after they have been dry cleaned several times?
A: The two main problems with ties are color bleeding and fabric puckering. Tie designs/colors can bleed upon contact with any moisture in use or care. Normal wear, as well as the agitation of cleaning, may also cause puckering of the face fabric. This can happen when the tie fabric is cut on the bias as bias fabrics are susceptible to stretching. The lining can also shrink during cleaning causing distortion. At Dependable, we clean ties in a net bag, which allows penetration from the environmentally friendly solutions but reduces the mechanical action the ties experience.
